New Hope Lutheran Church is a community of people who come together for worshiping God through transformed lives.
We are a come as you are church. If you like to dress up for church, then come dressed up. If you don’t, then don’t. We are a church that is not the 1950’s coat and tie, heels and gloves church. This is a church of people who work hard during the week and have carved out a morning to worship God, to stop and thank God for their blessings, to talk with people in the community. This is a community that doesn’t look down on someone who doesn’t have ‘proper’ clothes.
Come as you are also means that you bring your whole self to worship. No pretending. God looks into your soul, listens to your confession, and tells you that you are a forgiven child of God, full of grace and the Holy Spirit.
Come as you are in your spiritual journey, we will meet you there and with God’s help guide you in deepening your spirituality. No one at New Hope is expected to have completed the journey to being a perfect Christian. We are all on the journey, some going faster, some going slower but we are all listening to God and trying to walk the way of Jesus.
The next phrase that describes New Hope is come make a difference. Isn’t that what we all want to do? We want to make a difference in someone’s life, in the community around us, in the world. That is why we collect money for those in need. That is why we do local mission work with Christ’s Haven, Community Storehouse, CEC, and more.
There are so many ways in which we have reached out to make a difference. We are not a church that just stays within these four walls. We have helped at KellerFest; we have painted and decorated at Nelson House in Denton; we have had puppet shows many places. Reaching out, making a difference is who we are and we invite others to come make a difference, too.
The third phrase that defines New Hope is come to belong. People in this world and especially this country are becoming more and more isolated. Do you feel anonymous? Have you start realizing that you are not involved, that there are no relationships forming, and that you are by yourself in the midst of a crowd?
Here at New Hope you will find a place to belong. You are accepted as you are, encouraged to grow your faith, make a difference, and make relationships with people that will endure. These relationships will be a part of your support when times are hard, they will rejoice with you in your joys, and they will work with you to further the kingdom.
In Matthew 28 Jesus says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.”
Come as you are
Come make a difference
Come to belong
